Our dear dear friends Lucy Florence celebrates 10 years in Leimert Park! We can’t believe they’ve been in the Leimert Park area that long. But they have. And Ron and Richard Harris have contributed so much to our community—given us a home to hold our events—to meet and mingle. They’ve created a beautiful cultural center for all of South Los Angeles and visitors to our fair community. And they want to do more.
Time to give a little somethin somethin back folks! Please read the following:
Ten Dollars for Ten Years in 2010 (a.k.a. Three T) Fundraising Campaign
Ten years ago, Lucy Florence moved to the Historic Leimert Park Village with high hopes of uplifting and maintaining art and culture in the community. Through performing arts, children’s programs, community service, visual arts, private affairs and social charities, Lucy Florence continues to work toward becoming a lasting symbol of pride and achievement in the Black community. Today, the Lucy Florence Cultural Center is home to activities and events that entertain, comfort, educate and elevate all of humankind. We do not operate as a non-profit organization; we have chosen instead to rely on and prove that our businesses in our communities can and do succeed with the help of local patrons.
In honor of our 10 years in The Historic Leimert Park Village, we are launching a year-long fundraising campaign, Ten Dollars for Ten Years in 2010 (Three T). We are asking for donations of $10.00 or more to support the continuation of our current programs below:
- Children’s programs (lunch programs and facility use for nearby schools and students)
- Community Service (home to Dr. Earl Ofari Hutchinson’s LA Community Roundtable)
- Performing Arts (stage productions, classical music, concerts)
- Visual Arts (home to local artists whose work may not otherwise be seen on exhibition)
- Building Fund (installation of a downstairs restroom for seniors)
- Good karma (it feels right and will help someone else; and that good will return to you tenfold)
