Watch these two meat heads Human Rights Campaign president Joe Solmonese and Log Cabin Republican executive director R. Clarke Cooper chitty chat on gay marriage with Chris Matthews on MSNBC’s Hardball. And no, they didn’t trade recipes.
It was a cute conversation, actually. Matthews is always entertaining when it comes to the subject of gayness. Highlights were what Steve Schmidt said about their being “strong conservative case for gay marriage” and Ken Mehlman’s coming out. Solomnese ends any speculation of HRC having any issue with welcoming Mehlman into the gay marriage game. Check out the following:

According to About.com’s retail industry guide person Barbera Farfan, Best Buy and Target are expected to lose $759 billion in gay dollars due to the Human Rights Campaign’s boycott of the store chains. We had absolutely no idea queens dropped that much coin on Best Buy and Target. Damn.
Oh wait. She qualifies it all by saying that how much was spent by gays last year in terms of their buying power—not at one location. Okay. That’s better. We’ll let you read what she has to say:

Protest last Sunday at Quantico Marine Corps Base where Manning is being held in pre-trial confinement.
RENWL wrote about Brad Manning’s arrest back in early July (Army Whistleblower Brad Manning And The Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Transgender Question). The post by far has been the most widely-read item on RENWL to date. This just in from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC):
Press Release:
The California Fair Political Practices Committee (FPPC) has proposed a fine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) for failing to report all of its late non-monetary contributions in its efforts to pass Proposition 8 in California in 2008. While the recommended fine of just more than $5,500 for the unreported late contributions of $36,968 to the Yes on 8 campaign may seem inconsequential, it represents a pattern of blatant disregard for California election laws and provides ongoing evidence that the Mormon Church was a significant leader in the campaign to repeal marriage equality, even while it evaded standard reporting requirements and denied its involvement.
