Shocker: Dick Cheney Supports Same Sex Marriage On State Level
1 June, 2009 | Derrick Mathis | 5 Comments
What? Do my ears and eyes deceive me? Dick Chaney supports same sex marriage?!? Okay. This has got to be a passive aggressive slam against Obama’s silence on the issue. Which I can’t say is a bad thing. Now the big “O” (not Oprah) has got to come out with a statement—-soon. He can’t afford NOT TO now with his arch enemy Repub Cheney publicly giving his blessings on same-sex marriage.

This is getting to be pretty bad for the President. He needs to stand up soon on LGBT issues … on anything. Because now he is being upstaged by a whole host of conservatives … Cheney, Schmitt, Olson, Mini McCain. It looks really bad for the “fierce advocate” of LGBT issues.

I believe the issue will be resolved in CA and other states when the drafters of legislations are crafty enough to word the proposed legislation so as NOT to REQUIRE any religious body to perform a marriage ceremony of any sort, but to allow same sex couples to unite in marriage and to have the same rights and privileges under the law as any non-same sex couple have under the law. When you think about it, I don’t think this requires Obama to go beyond his current statement of support for civil unions – civil unions defined as marriage should be sufficient.

The president must have heard your thoughts. He issued the LGBT Pride proclamation yesterday:)
