Protect Marriage Sues Courage Campaign Over Logo
Talk about petty and ridiculous, last week we reported that the Protect Marriage folks sent a letter to Courage Campaign threatening to sue them over the use of the their logo likeness on Courage’s trial tracker site: Protect Marriage Threatens Courage Campaign With Cease And Desist.
Well the Prop 8 loving goons made good on their word according to the News 10 web site today. Protectmarriage.com filed a lawsuit in Sacramento court this morning for trademark infringement and unfair competition. The suit claims the anti-Prop 8 group ignored a demand last week to remove the logo from its Web site.
The News 10 Web site also states that the suit seeks a court order shutting down the Web site until the logo is removed. ProtectMarriage.com additionally seeks unspecified money damages and legal fees. Here’s a copy of the suit against Courage:
We don’t know who’s being sillier—the Protect Marriage folks for filing the suit or Courage for refusing to remove the logo from their trial tracker site. Rick Jacobs, head of Courage Campaign responded in a statement saying that this is just another attempt by the supporters of Prop 8 to distract from the facts being brought to this trial. Rick Jacobs we just want you to know we see right through you and congratulate you in this interesting move in terms of marrying Courage Campaign’s name to this trial. Very clever. Kinda’ desperate but nonetheless still clever.

The lawsuit is not petty or ridiculous. I support Gay Marriage but it doesn't take an goddamn idiot to realize that Courage Campaign DID imitate the logo of Protect Marriage organization. Let's all be mature and just remove the damn logo already and respect other people's trademarks and get on with the battle.
What IS ridiculous is that Courage Campaign refused to take down their fake logo but instead make their own creative logo design. What happened to all the gays who are so inventive and creative of creating new innovative designs? Come on PFFT.
