NOM Touts Prop 8 Trial’s Andrew Pugno, Two Other Wins In CA Primary Election
In a press release sent out across the nation today, the National Organization For Marriage (NOM) hailed the wins of Prop 8 trial’s Andrew Pugno (AD 5), Chris Lancaster (AD 59) for State Assembly, and Senate candidate Joel Anderson (SD 36) in Tuesday’s California primary races. The org claims that these three wins prove “Marriage is winning” in the golden state.
“There should be no question that candidates who support marriage as the union of one man and one woman will be elected to office in California,” said Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage – California PAC. “The NOM California PAC made support for marriage an issue in five critical races in California, and we won three of those contests. Marriage is a winning issue in this state.”
Three other candidates NOM supported however lost their political bids which include Attorney General candidate John Eastman and State Assembly hopefuls Sunder Ramani (AD 43), and Chris Lancaster (AD 59). By contrast according to EQCA’s Geoff Kors on Huff Post today, 28 EQCA endorsed candidates sailed to victory on Tuesday.
Call us crazy but we fail to see how NOMs three wins signals a claim that the majority of California voters overwhelmingly oppose gay marriage. It appears that NOM with their press release is simply trying to save face—-FAIL.
