When Gay Resentment Against Obama Gets Beyond Toxic

The effects of drinking too much hatorade on "Lez Get Real" blogger Paula Brooks

There’s NO WAY we could not offer commentary on one of the most recent posts from popular lesbian blogger Paula Brooks of Lez Get Real.  She was actually our original choice for RENWL’s Gay Inc Loser of the Week. But things got interrupted. In any case, apparently Miss Brooks is encouraging LGBT residents of Massachusetts to stay at home rather than vote in Tuesday’s very critical special election. No, this is no joke. Read  this segment of her post:

Now I don’t live in Massachusetts, but if I did, I would be telling President Obama I would gladly put on my walking shoes again… if he would only show me the money as it were, and do something about getting Mary Ritchie’s $15,000 back to her a little more expedient fashion… like withdrawing his Justice Department defense to Mary’s case… and to stop betraying my hopes for equality at every opportunity he gets.

However until he does… I would be telling every LGBT I know… come Tuesday… they should send Mr. Obama a loud and clear message about his dicking around with our civil rights and STAY HOME IN MASS on Election Day…

Please let us fill you in on what’s at stake here if the Republican candidate does win in Tuesday’s election and what you can do where ever you are in the US:

The odds are 3:1 that Republican Scott Brown will defeat Democrat Martha Coakely in the Massachusetts Senate race tomorrow, effectively ending this administration’s ability to legislate anything meaningful for the remainder of Obama’s first term.

Just in case you misunderstand—that means ANYTHING—any potential planned LGBT federal legislation aka Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, DOMA and ENDA—or Healthcare Reform. Oh the list goes on and on. But you see, Miss  Brooks doesn’t care.  Cause well, she’s mad. She’s mad cause Obama hasn’t acted hastily enough on the issues she feels he needs to be acting on right now or should have acted on in the last 12 months.

This special brand of gay rabies is a disease we have found that has spread dangerously out of control in the greater lgbt community of this nation like H1N1 flu (Swine Flu.) It’s called “It’s all about me and nothing else but me.” And clearly it’s starting to reach a crisis level as evidenced by Miss Brooks publicizing her own feverish foaming at the mouth insanity. Not that she hasn’t did this before.  But she’s topped herself this time by our assessment.

Our concern is based on the comments responding to this post on her blog .  There are fools out there who will actually support such self-destructive recommendation. And we feel it our responsibility to speak up cause it doesn’t look like much of that is happening in the LGBT political stratosphere from our view. There’s not much drum beating as a matter of fact to support the residents of Massachusetts gay or straight in voting for Democrat Martha Coakely.  So we’re doing that right now.

Our dear friend Marta E., a serious advocate for homegrown political involvement if we’ve ever met one,  has published a list of phone banks so that individuals from other states can call Mass. voters and ask them to vote for Martha Coakely.

If you care AT ALL about LGBT rights then we highly suggest that you take some time out on Tuesday and make some phone calls to Mass on behalf of Democratic candidate Martha Coakely. Here’s how you can help:

Make calls from your home.

Find a phone bank near you.

If you’re in Massachusetts, they still need people to canvass tomorrow.

I would be annoyed by this… except I see from my stat counter on LGR I have not gotten one… not one hit from this piece of clap trap from another Democratic co-dependent queen … which tell me no one is reading this….

If you had not noticed the Dem are just giving you a hand job over Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, DOMA and ENDA—and as for that betrayal to women rights you call Healthcare Reform…. it is just too bad a defeat for Coakley won't kill it…

What I am calling for … is tough love…. the same thing you do with a junkie or a drunk if you want them to get better… We as a community need to stand up to the Dems… and we need to do it when it will have an impact and they can see we can hurt them if they want to keep dicking with our rights.

    STAY HOME IN MASS

yes doing this is going to hurt for a little while… just think of it as pulling a dirty bandage off a festering wound

Well, Scott Brown won in Massachusetts . . . Feeling better Paula?
Fact is YOU now have one less player on the ONLY TEAM likely to help you get what you want.
You are still ranting at the WRONG person . . . people, actually. See, CONGRESS has to pass the laws you want passed. CONGRESS has to repeal the laws you want repealed. Obama will pass the new bills and the repeals IF CONGRESS PASSES them.
Until CONGRESS acts a pesky thing called the Presidential Oath of Office requires Obama to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America" and that Constitution annoyingly Obama and Attorney General Holder to enforce and defend the current laws including those they do not personally like. That is the law. Did Bush do it? No! That is why he and Cheney were domestic terrorists of the worst sort.
So you can be pissed off. You can sit home and not vote. You can hold yoru breath until you turn blue. Enjoy yourself!!
BUT until you and more of America (LGBT or otherwise) get off your/its grumbling butt(s), get to work and get CONGRESS TO ACT . . . There is no real reason to expect change. That's the way America works!
Lez Get Real? Give it try!
