Gays Put On Mute For Immigration March

The list of speakers for the March For Immigration tomorrow in Washington DC has been released. To our disappointment, not one of the numerous speakers at the event is LGBTQ.  And no one is scheduled to speak on the LGBTQ community’s behalf according to the Lez Get Real blog.

But there is a LGBTQ contingent who will be participating in the march. They’ll be seen. But not heard.

We find it very odd that with all the hoopla the last couple of years surrounding gay couples and immigration issues one would think that at least a speaker’s spot would’ve been reserved or created for someone to speak on the behalf of the immigration challenges within the LGBTQ community.

The event is expected to draw thousands—easily surpassing in attendance the National Equality March last year. We guess we should be consoled by the fact that Ben Jealous head of the NAACP is speaking…we think.

Here’s the list of speakers scheduled for March For Immigration

i do believe some of the leaders included in the list are personally living the issues you address. They will most definately address the issue.
