Focus On Family Buys 2nd Superbowl Ad
We have a feeling this party is just getting started. The LGBT community needs to start paying closer attention to these folks. They’re not playing. Christian right organization Focus On Family just purchased a pre-game slot for a new ad which again features pro football player Tim Tebow and his mom. This ad is scheduled to run 4 times before the Superbowl starts.
According to Focus On Family CEO Jim Daly, the new Superbowl ad is “an open discussion” on the sanctity of human life — not just the issue of abortion,” Daly says. It was made for less than $100,000 with “a bit of humor in it — in fitting with the Super Bowl theme.”
The original Focus On Family Superbowl commercial is expected to recount the story of Pam Tebow’s pregnancy in 1987 with a theme of “Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life.” After getting sick during a mission trip to the Philippines, Tebow’s mom ignored a recommendation by doctors to abort her fifth child and gave birth to Tim, who went on to win the 2007 Heisman Trophy while helping his college team the Florida Gators to two college football championships.
In response, Planned Parenthood posted an online ad featuring Olympian Al Joyner and former NFL player Sean James defending abortion rights. Interest groups including the National Organization for Women have asked CBS to drop the Tebow ad. Here’s the Planned Parenthood ad:

Absolutely. They're the true terrorists. And they're getting more terrible every day.

What is this “open discussion” nonsense? Anti-choice activists have been having a one-sided discussion on this issue since Roe v Wade and many decent Americans are tired of hearing them. If they don’t believe in abortion, then they should not have one, period. But stop forcing other people to believe as they believe.
I propose an “open discussion” on the merits of religious tyranny and using the government to impose religious beliefs on other citizens. I also propose an “open discussion” as to whether or not one can totally ignore the murder of law-abiding, taxpaying, gay Americans and still claim to be “pro-life?”

I'm confused about the "2nd ad" . . . This sounds like the same ad that has been discussed for a couple weeks now . . . Are you saying the purchased a 2nd slot? That it will run once during the pre-game and once during the actual game?

Mark: They originally purchased an ad a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday they announced that purchased more airtime with a second ad. A brand new ad. That ad will air pregame Superbowl–the new ad. The other ad—the original one will air during the game.
