EQCA, Love Honor Cherish, And Courage Campaign Plan Ghetto Love Fest

Vote For Equality volunteer tests out latest canvassing technology on South Angelenos.

Now we’re really confused. Weren’t these three just at each other’s throats mere hours ago? And whose campaign are they pitching together in the ‘hood—2010– 2012?

Word has it that Courage, Love Honor Cherish (LHC) and EQCA —along with Vote For Equality (VFE)—are joining forces to canvass (knock on doors asking people to support marriage equality) in South Los Angeles on December 12.

Here’s the odder part: this has been in the planning for some time now, at least a couple of weeks. What’s the deal guys???

We got a surprise call from Milton at EQCA over a week ago. Touching as it was (we loooove Milton) he quickly got down to business after our trembled ‘miss yous’ and turned all community coalescing on us asking if we’d be interested in joining EQCA’s canvass in South LA. Of course we answered with a chilly NO. How could we possibly partner with EQCA in Obama country doing anything?

But let’s get back to the mighty trio. So after our revelation here on RENWL over the weekend (Rick Jacobs Responds To Criticisms About Courage Pullout From 2010 Campaign) LHC sent out a we’re-takin-the high-road styled press release this week in response to Courage’s about face. We saw right through it—John Henning’s so sexy when he’s mad. This of course gave other blogs plenty to yak about but we on the other hand watched it all with quiet suspicion after having chitty chatted with Milton a week ago and then witnessing Lester Aponte’s announcement here on RENWL to forge ahead anyway with plans to canvass with EQCA in December—despite LHC having to now rough it in black neighborhoods with knives in their backs to boot. Actually, where they gonna park the BMWs while they walk is what we wanna know. Anyway, all this raised an eyebrow on our end. Dear Miltie didn’t tell us gloom ‘n’ doom LHC would be tagging along when he approached for us for what we thought was a flattering invite for a one on one date.

What eves.

Maybe this is how Courage got into the mix—us turning Miltie down. But the scenario is starting to look more and more like one of those pre-staged roller derby fights where the punches aren’t landing anywhere near anyone’s gut but the fake agonized reactions from the fake blows are superb—well sometimes—at least when the chick roller derby skaters do it. Face it. Fake or real, girl fights are hot.

And here’s the other confusing part: we were getting all these on the down low emails with info tryin’ to fry Rick Jacobs. Ya know, stuff like—Where’s the $200k? (Read Michael Petrelis expanding on that thought here) At first we thought they were plants from LHC. So we yawned and ignored them. But now our lips are twisted in skepticism and cautious wonderment. Maybe those were emails from disgruntled 2010ers after all and LHC had nothin’ to do with it cause they were in ca-hoots with Courage and EQCA all along. It’s just a theory. Certainly we’re permitted to toy with ideas.

Still, we can’t wait for that triple-header canvassing over in these parts. We just might have to get our camera and take some sneaky peak snap shots of the three orgs in action. We’ll keep you posted if we do.
