Oh Boy! Look! LGBTs For Karen Bass Facebook Page
And look who’s among the first eager beavers to join. That wondrous social butterfly of black queasy queerness Ron Buckmire of the Jordan Rustin Coalition. Why are we not shocked. Oh, and we see that Shaun Amsler has already joined as well—a young Dustin Hoffman lookalike —it’s amazing you have to meet him to see what we’re talkin’ about—-it really is uncanny—when we see him we stare at him when he’s not looking—we can’t get over the resemblance they just have to be related—isn’t he a former president of Young Buck Gay Democrats or something? What a shame.
Anyway, getting back to Buckmire, yes Miss Bass has a diehard following in the black LGBT community. Gay black folks loves them some Karen Bass—more than they do Obama. It’s kinda odd we think—the blind devotion ‘n’ all. Is she…naw let’s leave that alone. Matter of fact both Jasmyne Cannick and Ron Buckmire (mortal enemies in any other respect) adore and worship Karen Bass. And clearly she’s got the lockdown on white gays and straight progressive Dems too, for whatever reason. Guess she should be a shoe in for the 33rd District. Cause straight church goin’ black folks fo’ sho’ got their yes votes ready, penciled in ‘n’ waiting.
So, our take on it all is when it comes to Karen Bass—well you can’t fight City Hall. At least not outside of Long Beach. Now those Stonewall Dems out there—we don’t think they’re too big on Miss Bass. It just can’t be all that good a feeling to see her name in bold letters endorsing Steven Neal, a black minister running for LB City Council who doesn’t feel fags are worthy of marriage privileges. Cause you know, the bible ‘n’ all.
Anywhoo, this whole scenario is straight out of Bonfire Of The Vanities. Remember that novel? The movie was for shit. All we can do is stand on the sidelines and watch it start to burn. And it will burn at some point guaranteed—mostly on these silly know-it-all hoes here in LA who just refuse to see the writing on the wall. Don’t worry Long Beach Stonewall Dems—-we’re with you. And we don’t wanna hear none of that tired Obama-ish ‘sheeeee beeeetrayed us’ whining either after Bass gets your votes from you LA queens. You’ll get exactly what you deserve. Politics we’ve decided is a very ugly business. Glad we ain’t in it. Here’s the link to the Karen Bass Facebook page for you diehards. Have at it. Matter of fact tell her we sent you.

OK I'm starting to get the whole messy political minefield in LaLa Land.
1. Too many queers will vote for any old queer.
2. Too many Blacks will vote for any old Black.
3. Too many libberuls will vote for anybody Queer or Black especially a Queer Black.
4. Screw the issues . . . If you are Black OR Queer, some folks will vote for you "just because".
In this case, Kare Bass is doing #2 but forgetting #1 and supporting a Black homophobe (He'd say not really 'cuz he love Queers as long as they don't try to marry 'cuz "The Bible tells me 'No' ".)
We have to wonder if Ms. Bass is afraid not to do #2 because Black folks at home would ask why and sh'd have to say being Queer trumps being Black in this case. What an uncomfortable conversation to have to have!! :-0
As widely rumored on the East Coast, people in LaLa Land don't appear to do well with complex reasoning. Thinking has been known to furrow the brow . . . and, God know, they don't want to ruin their latest botox treatment!
NOTE TO MS. BASS: A homophobe is a homophobe regardless of race. Homophibia is the incestuous first cousin of racism, sexism and all other forms of hateful intolerance.
Sorry, sista, you don't get a pass for being Black!

Ha! Yes. And your last line in your post has been my whole point. Gays are giving Karen Bass a free pass and that's really sad. LA, particularly the gay community here, has this thing about popularity and fitting in. It crosses all into all realms—places that this kind of thinking shouldn't have any space to breathe and thrive.
Progressive Angelenos gay and straight very much like to think of themselves as politically sophisticated. Nothing demonstrates this more than this last deal with Karen Bass. The reasoning behind giving her a free pass is because the black minister she's endorsing happens to be campaigning for a low-level city council seat in a small city. So therefore it really doesn't mean anything or say anything about Miss Bass. Afterall, we all know politics is a trade off at times. I'll give you this if you give me that.
We recognize this and understand the process. However what they fail to realize is that this particular scenario goes beyond a trade off. They just don't get it. And they won't until Miss Bass out and out betrays them with a much bigger "trade off" at a later date. And she will do that. We'll bet money on it.
