Free And Low Income Dog Spay/Neuter Available To Qualified LA Residents

It’s just like our dear late grandma NaNa used to say, ‘God’s goodness is everywhere—just tell ‘im watcha need chile.’ And NaNa as usual was right as rain. It is everywhere. Big thank you to our friend Marta Evry.

Responding to yesterday’s post Why Your Dog Might Become A Symbol Of Racial Inequality And Social Injustice, Marta sent us a link to the Paw’d Squad Web site which lists several low cost options to spay or neuter your dog including free sterilization services for dog owners on low income if you have the required documentation to prove it. In addition to free sterilization services for your pet, they’ll even come out to where you live in the their mobile pet clinic facility the Spaymobile and spay or neuter your animal right in front of your home. This is particularly a good thing for seniors who are on low income and no longer drive or can’t get around.

You can go to this link for that information:  http://www.pawdsquad.org/spay_neuter2.html

You can can also check out additional low cost animal sterilization programs with the Los Angeles Animal Shelter. Take a look at the Big Fix programs offered which also include free services for low income and senior residents of the city of LA as well.

This should be wonderful news to many South Angelino dog owners who don’t currently hold licenses for their pets. As outlined in yesterday’s post if you have an unaltered dog you’d have to pay $100 the license fee. If your dog is sterilized (spayed/neutered) that would bring your license fee down to $15. Plenty incentive to get Fido fixed asap.

With this wealth of information provided here we think our concerns  regarding pet license affordability for many residents of South Los Angeles and other working class communities in the LA County have been aptly addressed. It’s now up to you. Get the dog fixed. Or pay up. It’s the law.
