Good Christian girl Jen Jen upset and offended that she can't counsel and hate on fags.
This story wouldn’t be so outrageous—and yes the headline makes it outrageous enough—and still it manages to surpass even its own headline. That’s cause the student in question 24-year old Jennifer Keeton, is pursuing a degree at Augusta University in Georgia to be a counselor. You know, like working with people and their emotional issues in a clinical setting like a therapist. Yea, see what we mean by beyond outrageous?
In a lawsuit filed last week in the U.S. District Court in Augusta, Ga., Keeton, alleges that faculty members and administrators at the university have violated her First Amendment rights to free speech and the free exercise of religion by threatening her with expulsion if she does not fufill requirements contained in a remediation plan intended to get her to change her beliefs.

Nope. No mix up. We're imaginary casting. We're fairly confident Bates is gonna play Elena Kagan at some point. The resemblance is too strong not to consider the possibility. Surely we're not the only ones to speculate on this?
We’ll admit it we haven’t been paying attention to the Kagan hearings cause these things tend to be dramatic, drawn out and uber boring all at the same time. And besides, we figured you’d catch all the worthwhile dish on the hearings from one of the umpteen million blogs and newspapers that are sure to hang on every word uttered in the process.
So it has caught us a tad off guard recently when by happenstance we discovered just how serious the Christian Right are in trying to unseat this woman from any possibility of getting on the Supreme Court. These folks are practically foaming at the mouths. Maybe our memory is selective but we don’t recall nearly the hate aimed at the wise Latina as what’s being hurled by the gallons at dear Elena. And they’re REALLY hung up on the gay thing.

We never thought we’d be endorsing a petition on the behalf of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). But here we are front row and center—totally down for the cause. And that’s because its for real. Time to put any silliness and resentment aside and get behind this petition to get the Republican National Party to reject Texas repubs homophobic platform. It’s pretty disgusting the laundry list of homo hate they’ve created.

We were waiting for the other shoe to drop as Harvey Milk Day got closer. Sure enough religious right groups are calling on followers to not let their children go to school if their school recognizes Harvey Milk Day. While the holiday is on a Saturday this year, groups like Save California have warned parents that schools could be conducting “exercises” throughout the month of May to commemorate Milk.
According to the Save California blog, the exercises could be anything teachers or school board members deem appropriate. This includes in-class reading and writing activities about the politician, or watching the film Milk. Assemblies teaching homosexuality and alternate lifestyles, cross-dressing contests, or mock “gay” parades and weddings could also take place.
Here’s the entire action alert from Save California

You see folks? Miracles do happen. Bishop Harry Jackson, the notorious ringleader of a hodge podge of black ministers in Washington DC who have continued on the crusade against same sex marriage long after they’ve been defeated, dissed and dismissed, is singing a new tune these days.
We just knew the good bishop would chime in with the rest of the fanatical religious right on the beyond ridiculous speculation of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagen’s sexuality and why if she was gay how that would make her unqualified to serve on the Supreme Court bench.
Well knock us over with a feather it turns out not to be so. Nope. Instead the Jackson is focused on the fact that Kagan is not a Protestant, according to Right Wing Watch. In a recent posting to the Town Hall blog Jackson appeals to his readers to asking that they contact their senators and demand that they take a stand against Kagan being appointed. Here’s an excerpt:

We have to admire California conservatives. Their tenacity and endless array of game plans and responses to the unthinkable possibility of fairness for one and all can be head spinning. It isn’t enough that they voted out a minority group’s civil rights–they want to police and run the whole kit and kaboodle.
We’re guessing due to the fallout from the revelation of Prop 8 trial Judge Vaughn Walker’s sexuality, that this news sent Prop 8trs and friends screaming and quoting scriptures back to the blackboard for some serious restrategizing.
The latest assault to common decency? An effort to rehaul the state’s judicial system called Better Courts Now. The Chula Vista-based grassroots political drive–which is also backed by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM)—is an attempt to flush San Diego County’s court system of liberal judges by placing emphasis on family values and pro life support. If successful in San Diego guaranteed they’ll waste no time taking the show on the road statewide.
