Courage Campaign NOM Tour Tracker; More Hindrance Than Help Says Some

Photos of Providence, Rhode Island rally

What a coincidence that DC activist Michael Crawford should publish on Huff Post today his thoughts on (without mentioning anybody’s name mind you) why it would it is a better idea to ignore the National Organization For Marraige (NOM) Summer For Marriage Tour instead of feeding fire to their claims of gays just being aggressive, antagonistic and effed up which supports why the deviants shouldn’t be able to touch something as sacred as marriage.

Constance McMillen Gets Paid And Gay Kids Still Get Beat Up Everyday

Cross posted from ACLU.org

As you may already know, yesterday we announced the settlement of Constance McMillen’s lawsuit against her Mississippi high school for canceling the prom rather than allowing her attend with her girlfriend as her date and wear a tuxedo.

While a terrific personal victory for Constance and a vindication of her rights, the agreement is especially noteworthy in that it will result in the implementation of a policy banning discrimination and harassment on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in the Itawamba County School District – the first such policy to do so at a public school in the state of Mississippi. The fact that, in the year 2010, there was not one policy at any public school protecting LGBT students from discrimination and harassment in Mississippi prior to this agreement is a sad reminder of how vulnerable LGBT youth remain.

Senator Roy Ashburn Begs For Penance; Wants Outfit Tips For Next White Party

That fateful night. Drunk as a skunk.

Talk about a 360 degree turn. We’re happy for Senator Roy Ashburn. It’s not everyday a formerly closeted lawmaker and republican at that, stands up and see’s the light. Well, in his case he kinda didn’t have much choice after leaving a gay bar and immediately being busted drunk driving. But hey, who’s knit picking?

The good senator went so far as to reach out in an essay on the Gaypolitics blog in which he offers apology and acknowledges what he did was wrong—the parts where he voted against any state legislation for gays. Oh well, we live and we learn.

LBG But No “T” In DC Health Report

NBC Washington reported today that Washington DC’s first ever health study conducted by the city’s Office of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Affairs addressing the health of lesbians, gays and bisexuals is not a mistake. The T, as in transgender was purposefully left out.

The survey that led to the report lacked questions about gender identity.

High Tea: The LGBT Leadership’s Right Wing Party Pals

Written by David Kaufman, cross posted from Huff Post:

This week’s resolution by the NAACP calling upon Tea Party groups to distance themselves from “racist elements” is an important step toward finally admitting the obvious — bigots and hate-mongers have come to dominate the more extreme realms of the American Right Wing.

With the Tea Party properly taken to task, it’s time NAACP leader Benjamin Jealous shifted his attention to the Left — and more specifically the endlessly and equally race-baiters comprising the LGBT “leadership.” I’ve long documented the blame-the-blacks bile of folks like David Mixner. But even his misguided missives pale in comparison to a recent hate-filled item by John Aravosis at Americablog. Perhaps taking a cue from the Tea Party itself, Aravosis posted this diatribe earlier in the week chastising the Obama Administration for apparently encouraging a policy of segregation in the ongoing effort to repeal Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell.

Demand Courage Campaign Condemn Partner Americablog’s Race Based Attacks

We're not asking for much Rick. Just for you to for once "manifest equality" for African American LGBTs and disavow the hateful actions of Americablog.

On July 12,2010, John Aravosis of Americablog published a post titled “Does the White House not understand that a black president cannot institute a policy of segregation? Apparently they don’t.”

See our post on this lates race-based attack by Americablog: Americablog Crosses The Line: Direct Racial Attack On Barack Obama, Mocks Blacks Who Were Segregated In The South

In this latest post John Aravosis asserted that the White House and the Pentagon are currently examining “segregation options” for gays in the military in addressing the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. The claim itself is an out and out lie. It was immediately refuted and dismantled that same day by Chris Geidner of Washington DCs Metro Weekly in his post, “Absolutely” No Segregation Being Considered, Pentagon Spokesman Says.
