War On Black Womens Reproductive Rights Makes West Coast Debut

Black Women At Demonstration For the Repeal of  New York State Abortion Law (Circa 1969)

We were about to turn in for the night when we spotted an LA Times update email containing tomorrow morning’s headlines. One headline in particular caught our eye: Antiabortion activists see a racial conspiracy.

Did we not just write a post about an article on this very thing from the New York Times yesterday?  Slave Masters Children Back With Bible In Hand: This Time Black Women And Abortion Rights.

What’s even more scary about the LA Times article is the way the headline is slanted. Read it again: Antiabortion activists see a racial conspiracy. In other words, the LA Times piece (and when you read it you’ll see this) accuses abortion clinics and reproductive rights folks as targeting black women in poor black communities and therefore racist in their attempts to purposely diminish the black population.

So now it’s a black genocide conspiracy. That’s the angle they’re going to take to the black church community here in California. You black women professional organizations, black lesbian groups, black sororities, women’s social groups—progressive churches—we can only sound the alarm for so long—-y’all better get your combat boots and fatigues on cause they’re here. And they’re about to launch their campaign on you and against you. Pretty soon the Catholic and Mormon churches will step into the bullpen, too once the groundwork’s been laid.

So you Latin, Asian and white women y’all ain’t off the hook either. You just have a little bit more time to work with is all.

But first it’s the black church community they want to get frenzied, feverish and foaming at the mouths before anyone else. And that’s because unfortunately our most intolerant clergy tends to hop in front of news cameras and the like real quick when it comes to espousing their opinions on their suddenly newly revised moral guidelines and the black community.

Based on the ass whoppin’ No On 8 received in ‘08 by that campaign taking everyone and everything for granted prior to Nov 5, we strongly suggest local black women that you take the LA Times piece as a clear sign that the troops have landed and have explicit directions to spread out and share the gospel. Church goin’ sistas you need to get with your preachers before they do is all we can tell you.

Here’s the LA Times piece: Antiabortion activists see a racial conspiracy

100 Black People For Good?

Here’s the idea: Once a month, one hundred anonymous black people get together and participate in a community-based project in South Los Angeles.

Each month, a community service project will be announced. The project could be anything—-from feeding the homeless at a Shelter to providing staff support at a local clinic to conducting a food drive or volunteering for a Habitat For Humanity project. One day—for a minimum of 5 hours—maximum of 8 hours—no other commitment from you required—- 100 black people from any walk of life get together once a month solely and only for the purpose of doing good in the black community.

Here’s what we’re NOT interested in:

Free And Low Income Dog Spay/Neuter Available To Qualified LA Residents

It’s just like our dear late grandma NaNa used to say, ‘God’s goodness is everywhere—just tell ‘im watcha need chile.’ And NaNa as usual was right as rain. It is everywhere. Big thank you to our friend Marta Evry.

Responding to yesterday’s post Why Your Dog Might Become A Symbol Of Racial Inequality And Social Injustice, Marta sent us a link to the Paw’d Squad Web site which lists several low cost options to spay or neuter your dog including free sterilization services for dog owners on low income if you have the required documentation to prove it. In addition to free sterilization services for your pet, they’ll even come out to where you live in the their mobile pet clinic facility the Spaymobile and spay or neuter your animal right in front of your home. This is particularly a good thing for seniors who are on low income and no longer drive or can’t get around.

Oh Boy! Look! LGBTs For Karen Bass Facebook Page

And look who’s among the first eager beavers to join. That wondrous social butterfly of black queasy queerness Ron Buckmire of the Jordan Rustin Coalition. Why are we not shocked.  Oh, and we see that Shaun Amsler has already joined as well—a young Dustin Hoffman lookalike —it’s amazing you have to meet him to see what we’re talkin’ about—-it really is uncanny—when we see him we stare at him when he’s not looking—we can’t get over the resemblance they just have to be related—isn’t he a former president of Young Buck Gay Democrats or something? What a shame.

Anyway, getting back to Buckmire, yes Miss Bass has a diehard following in the black LGBT community. Gay black folks loves them some Karen Bass—more than they do Obama.  It’s kinda odd we think—the blind devotion ‘n’ all. Is she…naw let’s leave that alone.  Matter of fact both Jasmyne Cannick and Ron Buckmire (mortal enemies in any other respect) adore and worship Karen Bass. And clearly she’s got the lockdown on white gays and straight progressive Dems too, for whatever reason. Guess she should be a shoe in for the 33rd District. Cause straight church goin’ black folks fo’ sho’ got their yes votes ready, penciled in ‘n’ waiting.

Saving The Best For Last: There Is No Such Thing As Black LGBT Leadership In California.

We’re sorry. An annual call to march in the King Day parade does not create the presence of black gay leadership or a black LGBT community for that matter. The fact that it takes the same effort to get 30 or so gay black folks together as it does to put together a rally in West Hollywood for thousands indicates that there lives a significant amount of dysfunction in the black LGBT community surrounding identity and self-loathing homophobia among other issues.

We really can’t point fingers at Rick Jacobs, EQCA or anybody else for that matter without addressing the bamboozlement that’s off-handidly referred to as leadership in the local black LGBT community. The fact is, there isn’t any. And to our knowledge as natives of Los Angeles, there never has been.

Oh, we could go down the laundry list of well worn names:  Cleo Manago, Jeffrey King, Rev. Alfreda Lanoix, Jewel of Catch One? Um…um…oh. Okay. We guess that’s it.

We don’t count black folks who either work for organizations outside of the black community or live outside of the black community. Nope. Sorry. And that ain’t hate. That’s just the reality of it. If you don’t live in the black community how the hell you gonna manifest and teach the love of self for others who need it in the black community?

The New Lady Boss: How Karen Bass Punked And Shut Down California’s White Gay Leadership

Fear Of A Black Planet As Envisioned By Gay White LGBT Leadership

Yes, the whipping boy of the hour was most def’ Rick Jacobs. But he’s hardly alone. Why, California’s entire marriage equality leadership has been punked and chumped by Karen Bass this past week backed up her bros’ in da hood Mark Ridley-Scott and Curran Price.

How embarrassing is that Robin McGehee, a supposed “courageous” champion of the LGBT equality movement demonstrates that the best she can do while Jacobs is under the gun is lamely highlight on Facebook that his boyfriend is off in Uganda doing God knows what.

Oh my, why that changes things entirely. What a humanitarian. Wait.  Is that a lump we feel forming in our throat? OMG, we’re getting choked up.

The Fall Of Rick Jacobs:Tragedy Of A Massah Who Listened To His House Negros

The original title of this post was Courage Campaign Takes Gay POC Leftovers: Dotes On Negro LGBTs While EQCA Holds Lockdown On Latino And Asian Groups

We actually wrote it on Thursday night, the day after we attended the Los Angeles Black LGBT Network at Catch One hosted by Jeffrey King of the black men’s group In The Meantime. Can we just stop here for a sec. We need to get this out: WE LOVED THE ORIGINAL HEADLINE FOR THIS POST—WE TRIED EVERY ANGLE WE COULD TO KEEP FROM HAVING TO CHANGE IT!

But…sigh— after the events of this entire week we decided that this post really isn’t about how two big white organizations have engaged in carving out the people of color LGBT communities as allies on their behalf; fact is EQCA won that battle hands down as early as July of last year with that Prepare To Prevail hijacking.

Rick Jacobs Hops In Bed With Karen Bass; Suffers Amnesia On LGBT Rights

What a striking irony it is that today the black political caucus is now the establishment—–better known as THE MAN. That term used to be reserved exclusively for white politicians and employers—white folks in power. No more.

It didn’t slip past us that Rick Jacobs of Courage Campaign played moderator tonight for that $100 a pop Liberty Hill event featuring assembly speaker Karen Bass and speaker-elect John Perez.

We suppose that’s why Miss Bass can openly support an African American political candidate who has made it very clear to one and all that he is against gays getting married—–LGBT civil rights.  And obviously supposed mavericks and leaders for LGBT equality such as Rick Jacobs are going to keep their mouths shut, smile and like it.  There will be no emails from Courage Campaign imploring that you sign a petition on the matter you can bet your bottom dollar on that. We’ve long been observant of Courage Campaign’s growing love affair with Bass’s  Community Coalition organization here in South Los Angeles.  Now it all makes sense.
