Calling All African American LGBT And Same Gender Loving Folks: Take A Stride For Justice @ The MLK Kingdom Day Parade
Well what do ya know. Monday January 18, is Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. Around these parts—South Los Angeles, that’s a high holiday complete with parade and festivities. Last year a strong contingent of black LGBT folks marched in the Kingdom Day parade and were met with a tremendous amount of support, plenty of wild cheers and wild enthusiasm. They’re doing it again this year. And this time they want an even larger group of black LGBTs to represent. We see at least a coupla hundred. This is so important. Because visibility really is the key—-particularly in the African American community. They need to see that we’re here and we’re queer and we ain’t goin’ nowhere. And you know what? They love it!
If you’re African American LGBT and live in Southern Cali, you really need to come on out and march with your gay/trans/lesbian/same gender loving brothers and sisters. Strength and beauty is in numbers. Come be a part of this historical march. Your presence can make a difference in someone else’s life. No doubt about it. There might be a little girl or boy on the sidelines—a teenager—or an adult struggling with their identity. Your presence and your pride can make the difference and touch many lives. And if you’re not black LGBT, you can come, too! Your cheers and support is most welcome. For more information about the LGBT Stride For Justice in the Kingdom Day parade please read the following:
